UPDATED Review/Everything Worked Out....Love 'em!!
best boots review on FRYE Womens Elena Boot Black

I got these because they filled several of my requirements -- I wanted plain boots , no buckles. Wanted a rubber sole that would be good on wet slippery surfaces. Wanted almond or rounded toe, not western style Preferred no zipper. I really love these-- got them last year and wore them a lot. They are very comfortable and easy to keep looking good. (Mine are brown leather). Because they have that slanted top-- higher on the outside of the boot than the inside, they have a bit of edge. The only bit of a concern is that they're fairly heavy -- not in an absolute sense but if you're used to wearing Uggs you'll notice the difference. Also unlike others I find that there is a little space between the top inside of the boot and my leg, even with jeans tucked in. They have a bit of a cavalier look to them-- not real fitted. But they couldn't be and still be a pull on with no zipper.

ReplyDeleteI bought these boots after searching for a while. I love them. They are so comfortable and stylish. You can wear them with a dress or skinny jeans. I got so many compliments on them from the first time I wore them. They are a bit pricey, but worth every penny. I am a frye boot fan. I own 2 pairs and I will never buy another brand boot. They run true to size. I have skinny legs, and the opening was just right. Not too big.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit apprehensive about ordering these boots based on the other review about the bronze glaze. And I admit, my heart sank when I pulled the boots out of the box and found that, yes indeed, they did have that weird bronzey look. However, they fit SO well and looked SO beautiful that I decided I could live with it. But I didn't have to! I always condition my new boots with Frye Boot Conditioner (in a round black tin) - and as I was doing this, the bronze glaze disappeared! The cloth I was using to apply the conditioner got really black - so I guess the bronze stuff was some kind of protectant on the leather that rubbed off when I rubbed the conditioner on. The boots are completely matte black now and I am delighted. The Elena is THE perfect boot for skinny calves. They do not gape on my legs, they don't have any stupid elastic goring, and there is no zipper to mess around with. The leather is so soft and I bought them especially for that wonderful lug sole (after slipping around in my leather-soled Campus boots for too long). I love them and highly recommend them (oh, and I also think they run a 1/2 size big, as is usually the case with Frye boots, my normal shoe size is a 7 - I purchased a 6 1/2 in these and they fit perfectly).
