FRYE Womens Shirley Ankle Stone

This is my very first pair of Frye boots . Being from Melbourne Australia, you have to order brands like Frye online because we don't have them here, that i know of, and i had to order from Amazon because the Frye company doesn't ship to Australia! SO, having obliterated all queries on sizing and all the other reviews here stating this boots ' narrowness in the foot area, i went for it and ordered the Fatigue pair. I just received them today and OMG, they are just so cool, but i understand what everyone's been saying about the width of them now! I'm so glad i didn't go for a smaller size, literally because of the narrowness. But I'm one of the lucky ones, my feet are about medium width and in length, almost 23cm. Normally US size 6 is a little too long, but in this case, not so, my feet fit in them almost straight away with thin socks. One foot is a little wider than the other so it took a few more seconds to get the boot on, otherwise, no problems. Once on, they felt a little narrow, but not painful. I have walked around in them all afternoon now and they have stretched a little more (something i didn't quite believe they did that others mentioned!). I'm extremely happy with them and can't wait for the cooler weather to come! I know these are going to wear in beautifully and will be a staple in my wardrobe, and I'm looking forward to buying my second pair of Fryes!

    I was a little concerned about these boots when I got them as a gift for Christmas. They were quite hard to get on even after unbuckling the strap. Once on they were very narrow though the top. The length was perfect, no sliding or slipping, it was just around the top of the foot that they were snug. After reading online that Frye boots would stretch a little I decided to wear them around the house with thick socks on. After about 30 uncomfortable minutes the leather started to loosen up. I slipped on a pair of normal socks and now they fit like a dream. Getting them on and off is still a bit tough but I am assuming that will loosen up with time as well. I absolutely love the fatigue color. I am planning on buying the tall version as well to complete my boot collection!

    I am petite, with a narrow foot- its hard for me to find boots that are a good scale for my thin calves. Frye are well worth the investment, the construction is top notch.

    Excellent quality, runs true to size. The shaft is a bit too narrow that allows to put the boots on only with thin socks, otherwise very good purchase.

    These are beautiful, well-made boots. The other reviews mentioned them being narrow, which actually appealed to me - I have long, narrow feet and thin calves. Most boots are WAY too wide in the calf. These boots are soft, and really easy on and off. I ordered a half size larger because I intended to wear them with a heavy sock, and that was perfect. Normally a 9, got a 91/2. I wear jeans inside them, but i think a wider cut jean could go over the top. They are comfortable, have a slight cowboy look to them without being full-on cowboy boots. They are Frye's so I expect them to last forever! The suede makes them look already worn, not beat up, but worn. They don't look brand new. Great boots.

    They work great with Skinny jeans and the black leather is super good looking. Overall a great looking boot!

Best riding boots ever!

boots review on FRYE Shirley Over The Knee Riding Leather I loved and wanted this boot regardless of the fact that i knew my calf size was larger then what the boot circumfrance stated. My calf is a 16 3.4.. but i knew that in a couple of days it would give and it did. When i first tried them on they wouldnt go pass my calf then after wearing them in the house they gave but then i realized i should have tried them with socks. I put the socks on and then in two days they stretched and fit my calf nicely. i always order a half size up, which was plenty of room to wear with socks and be comfy. I love this boot and thats why i took 4 days to decide if it was worth all the stretching and it was. Dont plan on buy another black boot for some years. One change I would make to these boots if I were the designer: I'd make them knee length. They are a little short for the style. I normally wear a 9.5WW. Even though these were only a W, I had plenty of room in the footbed. I've ordered about eight pairs of boots trying to find one to fit and wished I could have kept these, even as an extra pair, since they aren't going to go with everything. My beef with these boots is that even though the calf opening says 16 inches, I could barely zip them up on my 16" calves (where I could on other boots of the same width).
