best boots review on FRYE Womens Jane Strappy Knee High

I purchased these boots less than a week ago and they have already become a wardrobe staple. By expanding my research slightly beyond the Amazon.com horizon, I was able to see how these boots really fit, and make sure they were what I wanted.
These boots are slightly more slouchy (baggy in some areas) than the images represent. If you want to see a true example of how the boots will look, I recommend heading over to Zappos.com and watching the video that comes with their product description.
I bought my pair in Tan (size 9.5) and found it to be a true fit, with enough space in the shaft to tuck my boot-cut jeans into comfortably. The 2 1/2 inch heel gives me a touch of extra height and are still super comfortable to walk in. I have put these boots through their paces, spending hours walking around town in them, and they don't hurt my feet at the end of the day. The straps are adjustable for slight customization of size on the shaft.
I am typically not one to buy clothing/shoes based on designer names, but I specifically sought out a pair of FRYE boots based on the excellent word of mouth I've heard and their reputation for well-made, long lasting shoes. Check back on this review in 20 years and I'll let you know how they've held up! ;)
Just as background, these are my 4th pair of Frye Boots. They join the Melissa Logo (stiff, no-nonsense equestrian), the Harness 12R, and the Veronica Combat.
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Jane Strappy in dark brown. I have found that brown boots are every bit as versatile as black and you cannot beat the richness of the color.
I find Frye sizing to be extremely consistent. An 8.5 fits me perfectly for all the boots. I disagree with the many reviewers who advise to size down. These boots are a big investment and I wouldn't count on them stretching all that much. I have had the Harness for over a year with heavy wear and they do not seem to have stretched. I wear a 7.5 or 8 in other shoes, but I go up for boots to allow for socks. Feet do swell after a few hours of wear, so my advice to to keep them roomy.
The Jane Strappy is an unlined, slouchy style boot, so keep that in mind when ordering. I love the look of them with skinny jeans. They fit my calves fairly loosely so there is quite a bit of room.
The only thing that made me hesitate was the price tag. Even so, I LOVE these boots! They have a very unique and sexy vibe.
After spending about a month researching almost every pair of riding boots imaginable, I finally decided upon the Frye Jane strappy knee high boot in tan. They were quite a bit out of my initial price range, but they were love at first sight, and just had to be on my feet! They are the most beautiful and well constructed boots I have ever owned, and don't regret the hefty price tag at all. The tan color is a gorgeous whisky, and the fit is definitely slouchy rather than stiff. I have been wearing them with both skinny and boot cut jeans tucked in as well as with dresses. They are a little loose with just tights on, but still comfortable. If you are looking for an all around beautifully constructed, comfortable, and goes with anything boot, then buy these today!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I am purchasing Frye boots.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I owned a really good pair of knee high boots, so I looked for a long time, although none of the retail stores in my area had this particular boot, or, in fact, anything remotely similar in my size, in order to try them on.
So, finally, I ordered the Black in an 8.5, my regular size, and wore them for the first time this week. They are really comfortable - I can't wear very high heels any more (too many years of punishing my feet with them) and am on and off the train or bus a lot, so heel height is important. These boots were comfortable for a full day's wear, with tights.
How nice to be able to wear a shorter skirt for a change, too, to show them off ;). When a fire truck stops to let you cross the street, something must be working right ;) Somewhat of an upgrade from my flat snow boots !
I felt so good about the purchase that I came back and ordered another pair in Fatigue suede. They are slouchier, but will be great over jeans, or with any length skirt too. While I ordered the same size, 8.5, they feel just a little tighter across the foot than the Black, for some reason, but not so much as to be uncomfortable. I think they will wear in just great.
Great boots, well made, quality materials that will last a long time.
These boots are just awesome. They fit like a glove and feel fantastic! Very well made - Frye boots are worth the money!
ReplyDeleteI have wanted a pair of Frye boots forever, and finally got them. I ordered the dark brown, and they really are a rich color. I generally wear a 7 1/2 to 8, so I ordered the 8 to be safe. I can wear nice thick socks with them, which I like to do with boots. The leather is good quality, and the heel height is perfect. They feel great, nice and comfy. I will wear these a lot, with jeans and skirts both. I expect these boots to be a staple for many years.
ReplyDeleteSeems well constructed, they look very nice and the gift recipient was very pleased and let me know she was. Win Win
