My Favorite Boots Ever

boots review on La Canadienne Womens Blanche Patent

La Canadienne Womens Blanche Patent

Maybe these aren't high-heeled sexy boots , but these boots are sexy and crazy cute. I ordered them in cherry. One change I would make to these boots if I were the designer: I'd make them knee length. They are a little short for the style. I normally wear a 9.5WW. Even though these were only a W, I had plenty of room in the footbed. I've ordered about eight pairs of boots trying to find one to fit and wished I could have kept these, even as an extra pair, since they aren't going to go with everything. My beef with these boots is that even though the calf opening says 16 inches, I could barely zip them up on my 16" calves (where I could on other boots of the same width). I wouldn't recommend buying them unless your calves are 15.5 or under. The leather does not feel like the type to stretch. A huge plus: these are extremely comfortable. They offer arch support (unheard of in most boots ) and a very, very cushy footbed. (Note: If you are like me, you might want to give Bandolino Women's Cabezaw Knee-High Boots, 10M a try...I got them in Cognac and love the color...the footbed is wider than in many W's. They are a more classic style boot. On the downside, they are not nearly as comfortable as the Blanche boot. Perhaps that is to be expected...they were nearly half the price. Not sure if they offer them here at Amazon, but I got them at the most well known online shoe retailer.)

  1. I have three pairs of this boot, one in patent black and two in just black and love them. Even though I have a normal foot width, I have bunions so end up being more comfortable in a size 8.5WW (8.5E on Amazon.com). Although the shoe insert that comes with the boots is great, very soft and much better than most other boots, especially Dansko, I need a bit more support so put in Finn Comfort Soft Wedge 8545 insoles and then the boots fit perfectly. The black patent are a bit wider in the ankle and a tad taller than the other two plain black leather boots, but otherwise pretty similar. I can only really tell about the wider ankle when going up and down stairs; the patent pair tends to bunch up at the ankle, probably wouldn't be a problem for someone with bigger ankles. That said, the plain black leather pairs are rather tight fitting at the ankle and I have skinny ankles. They do stretch out with wear though. While they could be a little more stylish, they are basic enough to look rather sophisticated more so than trendy and should be capable of being worn for years. All in all, I love these boots and hope La Canadienne will make similar boots in a wider range if colors someday soon.

  2. I need a shoe with a wide toe-box. These are SO comfortable. I just walked for 3 hours in them - first time I've worn them. I feel good running in them (to catch the bus). These are not the sexiest boots around, but they are pretty decent-looking. They feel so good on my feet, I could probably sleep in them.

  3. I have these boots in red patent and black patent. They are wonderful--so comfortable and great looking, I don't want to wear any other boots.
