Aquatalia Marvin K Womens Antique

This is my second pair of Aquatalia boots by Marvin K., and they are just as beautiful as the first.

For years and years, I searched for the perfect pair of boots . I tried on hundreds of pairs all to find that they did not fit my skinny calf. In my experience, I would say the average boot shaft circumference in the U.S. is probably around 15". My calf is approx. 13". It was and is very, very frustrating.

So my husband (yes, my husband) took me to a high-end department store and bought me my first pair of black leather Aquatalia's. After that, I was hooked. I realized that a brown pair would be a great addition to the wardrobe and guiltily bought the Star. The price is shocking. I have no other shoes that come even close to the price of these boots . I justified purchasing them by realizing they have a truly timeless style and their quality is outstanding, so I should be able to wear them for years to come. They are very versatile. I wear them under jeans, over jeans, with dresses.

The best part about them is that I don't have a huge gaping gap surrounding my calf. The circumference of these boots are 13.5 - 14" depending on various store website descriptions. These are true to size. I can wear thin to fairly thick socks. However, thick socks are really not necessary because they keep my feet toasty regardless of the sock.

An added feature that I adore is that they're weatherproof. The sole is sturdy with a grip to prevent slipping. I have had my black boots for two years now and they have worn very nicely. They don't look ratty and the sole is not worn at all. Because these boots are so expensive, I do plan to bring them to a shoe cobbler to have the leather spiffied up.

For those with an average to larger size calf circumference, I think these boots may not work regardless of the stretchy side panels.

  1. These boots are good looking and comfortable--- they were comfortable from the get-go! No need to break them in. They look great with skirts, dresses and pants. Sole and roundish toe keep them from being terribly elegant, but versatile enough to wear most of the time. Great buy!

  3. I have been looking to replace my knee high [cheap] boots for 2 years... and finally found a pair that not only is the chocolate colored brown I have been looking for, but they have the rubber tread at the bottom I also wanted [good for city living].

Yes, they are a little pricey but I consider these investment boots, meaning - good for LONG TERM and worth the money. The fit works, I wear a 9 Fluevog brand boot, but the Aquatalia, I needed a 9.5 [go figure]. What's great is that I can tighten up the buckle by the ankle by 1 and loosen up the buckle around the calf by 1 - so it really is a perfect fit.

If you are looking for a solid yet stylish boot for more than a few years worth of wear- I think you found it. :)

  4. Traveled to Europe with these boots in Istanbul, Athens and Paris and my feet felt great. The boots look very good, leather is soft and comfortable and the padded insole kept my feet from feeling fatigued. I wear a size 6.5 and the boots fit just right. I would highly recommend these boots.
