boots review on FRYE Womens Harness Boot Tan

I bought these boots a few days ago in black. In case you're wondering, they look exactly like they do on the website! I'm sure the caramel is absolutely gorgeous!
I have always wanted a pair of boots that was weather-worthy but not clunky and ugly. This boot is the answer to all of my prayers! -- it is beautiful and stylish, and it has a special insole for stability. I am looking forward to trying it out this winter because it seems no matter what type of boot or shoe I wear, I always end up falling down everywhere.
If you are a city girl like me, don't be turned off by the fact that they are "utility" boots for equestrian sports. These are as gorgeous as any pair that I've ever seen for city use, but more durable. I expect that I will have them with me for a long time to come. They also make a slender silhouette instead of widening around the calves like other boots tend to do.
I am 5'3", my calves are 15" around at their widest point, and I generally wear a size 8.5. My foot slid right into the first boot I tried, but I had a heck of a time zipping it up, even with the generous goring around the edging. I was finally able to zip it all the way up after I tugged on the goring and pulled it over to the seam of the other zipper.
At first I thought they didn't fit. Then I realized that's how a boot is supposed to fit - snug! My feet shouldn't be shuffling around inside of them! They are extremely comfortable - haven't hurt my feet at all. I've been wearing them constantly to break them in. I even like to sleep in my boots in the winter, lol; they keep my feet nice and toasty!
Follow-up review: It's been a few months and I'm still loving them. The true test is that I have a lot of shoes and boots in my wardrobe, but I wear these boots more than anything else. They are so comfortable I forget I have them on. They are just a perfect fitting boot, as though they were made for me. The other day I was forced to slog through a huge puddle of ice water that encased both my feet. When I stepped out, my feet were as dry as before! Although my other boots have scratches and marks, these Ariat boots seem resistant to wear. They don't have a scratch on them and everything I get on them seems to wipe right off. I wear them with everything and they look great. There is nothing that doesn't go with them -- jeans, jeggings, leggings, skirts, dresses -- they look great with everything. I really love the fact that this boot does not slouch around the ankles. It creates a very streamlined look. The boots hug my legs and don't pouch or slouch everywhere. I think that is why they are good for both large and small calves. They hug the leg. Part of this effect is the generous elastic goring around the calf. It makes for a customized fit, expanding or contracting to accommodate the leg as needed. Also, the rubber sole is great. Keeps me steady on my feet, whereas some of my other boots have me toppling over. Anyway, I can't say enough good things about these boots . If you are considering taking the plunge, there are some other websites that feature pictures of the boots being worn. I found them quite helpful when I was thinking about buying them. I am about to buy my second pair in the caramel color.
Further follow-up: I just received the caramel-colored boots and they are gorgeous. It only took minutes to put them on. They fit as well as my black pair. Now I just need to wait until they make the boots in more colors!
So this is the most I've ever paid for a shoe, but these are lifetime boots, and the minute you put them on you feel the quality. You're going to want to get some protectant spray, and that's going to even out and darken the leather. The picture of these boots looks much more distressed than mine look now. I got true to size and while I initially thought I should have gone smaller, I'm glad I did not, my real size is the right size. This is not a dainty boot- they are heavier and larger than you might think and if that's not what you're looking for, these aren't for you. I waited a long time to get these and wish I would have just gotten them sooner.
ReplyDeleteI already owned a pair of 12R Frye boots, but I wanted a pair closer to an ankle boot, but still offering some leg protection when outside. These are perfect. I can wear them comfortably all day. I may have to get a pair in black so I can wear them to work. I strongly recommend these boots. Thanks AMAZON.com
ReplyDeleteI gave wanted these boots for a long time and finally ordered at a great sale price. They run a tad large but just right for winter socks. Great quality - will last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThese are the best boots around in my opinion. I love the syle, love the fit (1/2 size smaller than you normally take), very good quality leather and workmanship, and lastly MADE IN USA!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFrye are primo boots and they'll last a lifetime. I bought this style in black and brown but had to send them both back. It's not the fault of the boot, which is an amazing piece of footwear; it's just that my feet are too wide! So, until Frye makes a wide-sized boot it looks like I'm limited to the $15 no-name faux leather variety. BooHoo for me but WooHoo for you if you've got normal feet -- these boots rock!
ReplyDeleteSUPERLATIVE LEATHERS AND FABULOUS FIT AND STYLING MAKE THIS A MUST HAVE IN ANY WARDROBE. BEAUTIFUL NEW COLOR. JUST REMEMBER TO SIZE UP 1/2 SIZE! LOVE THE SKID PROOF BOTTOM TOO.
ReplyDeleteof course! definitely order them a half size smaller then your regular shoe size, though. they make everything look good and get a lot of compliments.
ReplyDeletehighly recommend!
The boot is fantastic!!! The fit is true to size though a little tight on one foot but not uncomfortable. The shoe is leather so i am sure once it is broken in they will be absolutely perfect. The quality of the shoe is outstanding. I would definately recommend this shoe, it seems like one of those shoes that will last forever. Go on and do it its a great buy!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with Frye!!! However, this boot runs a bit big.......might want to order a half size down. If you have a problem with heavy shoes, these boots may not suit you....they are very durable, but on the heavier side too.
