FRYE Womens Carmen Harness Short

First, let me say that these boots are gorgeous. I ordered these and the harness boot in Sand, and this was my favorite color of the two. It is a rich, golden tan that looks fantastic with denim and will carry you through the entire year.

Compared to the sand leather boot, these were wider. They would not have required any break in period for my foot.

Compared to my Frye Engineer's this style does not have that super comfy foot bed. There is some cushion, but it is not the uber comfortable gel insole that the Frye's that are made in the USA have. Also, the leather is stiffer on both the tan and sand Carmen boots than on the Engineer Frye boots .

Ultimately, I returned these in favor of the Carmen Harness Boot in Sand because I live in a snow belt, and I did not want to be afraid to wear my boots , especially at this price. I was not 100% sure that the tan suede would fair as well in the salt and snow. Had I lived down south or in Arizona, I would have kept these in a heartbeat. They are gorgeous.

Best riding boots ever!

boots review on FRYE Shirley Over The Knee Riding Leather I loved and wanted this boot regardless of the fact that i knew my calf size was larger then what the boot circumfrance stated. My calf is a 16 3.4.. but i knew that in a couple of days it would give and it did. When i first tried them on they wouldnt go pass my calf then after wearing them in the house they gave but then i realized i should have tried them with socks. I put the socks on and then in two days they stretched and fit my calf nicely. i always order a half size up, which was plenty of room to wear with socks and be comfy. I love this boot and thats why i took 4 days to decide if it was worth all the stretching and it was. Dont plan on buy another black boot for some years. One change I would make to these boots if I were the designer: I'd make them knee length. They are a little short for the style. I normally wear a 9.5WW. Even though these were only a W, I had plenty of room in the footbed. I've ordered about eight pairs of boots trying to find one to fit and wished I could have kept these, even as an extra pair, since they aren't going to go with everything. My beef with these boots is that even though the calf opening says 16 inches, I could barely zip them up on my 16" calves (where I could on other boots of the same width).
