Comfortable, stylish casual boot
best boots review on FRYE Womens Veronica Tumbled Leather

I purchased the grey/slate in size 8. For reference, I am 5'3". They might run a half size small as I am usually between an 8 and 8.5 (38-39EU), tending to lean toward the 8.5. The picture here does not do them justice! They are much better in person than they appear on Amazon. My first loves are HANDBAGS, and this leather is expensive designer handbag quality....soooooo soft. It feels nice. It smells nice. I'm a little strange about my leather, I guess. This is a distressed gray with a "finish". I'll bet if one were to put leather polish on them, the boots would be dark gray. You can rub them with your finger and they get a little darker. On me, they come to about an inch or two below my knee. My calves are on the larger side due to jogging, but I can still fit my skinny jeans in them!

I have been in love with this boot for years. Have logged in many hours trying to find one similar to the veronica slouch, however, frye is a bit out of my price range. Came across this STEAL and could'nt pass it up. I have never been more pleased w/ any purchase, let alone an online one. Amazon is my new best friend. Customer service is stellar, and my boots arrived the next day. I havent taken them off since I opened the box. Since I have tried them on about 600 times I new they would fit perfect (very true to size) but I did'nt now they would be so comfortable. I also have the frye harness. Veronica much more comfy. Leather is butter soft and foot bed has lots of padding. (its an all dayer)I have large calves (15.5") and they fit them fine. You can adjust the shaft opening to fit smaller calves. So to summerize...If you've considered this boot, BUY IT!!!!!! you wont be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteIn the market for some casual, slouchy boots for a few years now. My slim calf size (under 13 inches) and tall height (6ft) made this a difficult proposition. I figured since it is so difficult to find boots that fit my calves I'd just go the other direction and look for something that is slouchy and not meant to fit snugly. I ordered them (in the charcoal) because they were on sale and have had so many positive reviews all over the internet. The Frye veronica has answered all expectations and then some! They look stylish, durable, and well made. They feel, after the break in period, quite supportive, and I have a high arch, so that's saying something indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe breaking in period was brief and once the leather was stretched by repeated wear, getting them on and off was much easier. So don't be deterred if they are difficult to put on right out of the box as they do stretch. I wear a size nine and found them true to size, however the fit is snug (not tight) so if you want to wear them with a thick sock, maybe size up half a size. If you have wide feet, this boot may not work for you as there is not a lot of play in the toe box/arch area.
If you are looking for an equestrian style, formal type boot with high shine and no leather variation, then this is not the boot for you. If you are looking for an everyday casual boot with unique leather variation/distressing and an edgy biker flavor that goes with almost everything, check this boot out! I liked it so much I ordered it in another color the next week.
I have been looking for a pair of brown boots for the last 4 years, ever since the last pair I bought started cracking along the shaft...my calves were getting larger from working out and the boots couldn't take it anymore. Nothing I had looked at seemed to look quite like what I wanted. I ordered a few pairs over the years, but always returned them because the calves were too narrow. Then I found these Frye's came in Extended Calf. Thanks to the reviews, I learned that these boots had a good chance of working on my 17-inch calves. I normally wear a size 8 shoe, and ordered the 8.5 Extended Calf because 1) I normally wear socks with boots and heard these boots were snug, and 2) I figured going up a half size would give me a bit more calf room. When I received the boots, I loosened the top buckle to the loosest setting. The boots went up 95% of the way on my calf before they got too tight. Knowing I could have the shafts stretched in the future if they don't loosen up on their own, I was very happy with the fit. Luckily, since these are slouch boots, you can't even tell they are pushed down a tiny bit. I have a narrow heel, so I have a little slippage even with thick bootie socks, but I can add an insole if it becomes a problem. These boots look and smell great, the quality of materials is fabulous. Long story short...amazing boots, fit well but if your calf is larger than 17, in a size 8.5, be prepared to get them stretched. After 4 years of hunting, the price was worth it.
ReplyDeleteYes, like most of you out there I have been admiring these boots for about a year now, hoping to find the deal of the century. I thought perhaps I would find something similar at Nine West, but there's no comparison. Finally, after being so hesistant about the money $$$$ and trying to forget these boots, although, I just couldn't let go of them! They haunted me at night! I own a pair of Frye's and the quality is impeccable. These days most of us are a lot more cautious on how we spend our money, but I have never been more in love with these boots!!!! Amazon has never let me down! Frye has never let me down! UPS has never let me down! They arrived UPS and the shipping was fast! They fit perfectly true to size and they are sooooooo comfortable. The leather is butter soft and the padding feels nice inside. I have average size calves since I do work out and they fit loose. The straps are adjustable. If you have been admiring these boots, do yourself the favor and just buy them! I bought them in the black, size 7. The first day, I wore them over skinny jeans with no problem. I hope my review was able to help some of you ladies out there! Treat yourself to these!!!
ReplyDeleteI loves these boots. Only thing I've noticed, is that they are not leather lined as with most other Frye boot styles. This cause a slight bit of difficulty getting the boots on since they don't just slide over your socks like most other Frye boots do. Assuming they will shine up a bit on the inside with wear and begin to slide on more easily. Otherwise I love the style, fit, leather. Such a great all around boot.
ReplyDeleteLike many others I had to contemplate this purchase because of the cost, but once I had these boots on my feet I had no doubt I made the right decision! I love them!! I am normally a 6.5 and that is what I ordered - they fit perfectly. I have had strangers and friends alike tell me how great they think the boots are. The "distressed" look is exactly what I was looking for, and I can wear them all day and my feet feel great. I have owned them for just over a month, and look forward to years of wear!!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting these boots for so long, and now that I have them, I love them even more than I thought I would! They smell amazing, they are beautiful, and they fit like a dream. Definitely buy a half size up - I'm normally an 8, but bought the 8.5 and it fits perfectly. What's more, I have very wide feet, and typically have trouble buying shoes, but these fit me just right. I would recommend these boots to anyone.
ReplyDeletePart of the reason I finally broke down and bought these boots was because Amazon had such a great price, and they offered free super-saver shipping. They originally told me that the boots would take a week or longer to arrive, but I got them only two days after I ordered them! I'm very happy with my purchase and will definitely buying Frye boots, and using Amazon, again.
